How can you tell the difference on a Brown Lake stamp and a Brown-Lake stamp?
Thanks for posting Robert. It is interesting how different catalogues interpret color:
Scott:
5sh -- dull red brown
10sh -- dull grey violet
Stanley Gibbons:
5sh -- claret
10sh -- dull purple
And neither catalogue lists any other color varieties that I could see -- unlike your inestimable ACSC!
Cheers,
Eric

"Anglophile
From my monitor it looks like Brown Lake is more brown, and Brown-Lake is more lake. And no, this is not a comedy routine."

I do have the stamp in question but not being an specialist just one copy is good enough for me.
That was the only difference to me also, the hyphen, but I'll admit that it was T-I-C when I posted the question.
A scarce near complete set of high value stamps of the Coronation of King George VI. The only stamp missing is the £1 Specimen, have not as yet found one that has interested me.
The £1 stamp on the right isn't stained, it is the colour of the paper.
