Last month we had a very helpful discussion about the merits of WW albums here:

https://stamporama.com/discboard/disc_main.php?action=20&id=15371#115789

I looked into a set of Scott Internationals, starting with Part I. Amos had a $399 deal for all four sections of Part I plus a 2014 Scotts Classic catalog. Not a bad deal in light of the regular prices. This WAS that deal:

http://www.amosadvantage.com/scottonline/product.asp?category=INT&part_no=801C14C&find_category=WEB_ALL&find_description=&find_part_desc=international

When I asked Amos a few questions, they told me that the offer has been discontinued. When I called their office to inquire further, they said that there would be no similar offer in the future because printing costs have risen too much. That leaves the Amos cost for Part 1 at $480 ($120 x 4).

They are available through Subway for slightly less: $450 ($112.50 x 4).

Question 1. Are the Amos and Subway pages the same?

Question 2. Does anyone else sell the new pages for less?

Thanks for helping shed light on this.

-Steve

re: Scott International New: Amos? Subway? Other?

Subway is merely selling the Scott pages the same as any dealer.

Do you subscribe to Linns? If you do, then you will get the Amos Advantage discount. While I can buy wholesale from Subway, I have found that the price through Amos Advantage for the International pages is a little cheaper, and I buy the annual International supplements from Amos (Scott).

If you do not subscribe, and you intend on buying alot of the International pages, you might want to consider subscribing. You will probably save enough money to pay for the subscription and still save money. You can just subscribe to the monthly edition of Linns, which I believe is $29.99 a year, or get the weekly subscription for $59.99 a year.

As for your question if there are cheaper ways to buy the Internationals, yes. You can check with dealers, ebay usually has plenty being offered as well.

re: Scott International New: Amos? Subway? Other?

Thanks Michael. Sage advice as always.

I do have my eye on eBay. I found Part IV there still shrink-wrapped for just under $50. One guy has Part I in shrinkwrap for $539! That's only a hundred dollars more than Subway...

I'm only looking for the newer acid-free pages. Not sure if this is a quite right, but I'm using the visual appearance of the newer pages with "SCOTT" printed on the left side of the pages as a signal that the pages are good. It seems reasonable and gets a copyright date of at least the 1990's, but I haven's seen anything definitive.

Since I'm not in a hurry, I can afford to keep looking. I like your suggestion of the Linn's subscription. My dad subscribed when I was a kid, and I read through most issues. Usually gawking at all the stuff I could never afford...

I still use the pages that my parents bought me in the 1960s. I don't see any acid problems with them.

This is not definite but I may be considering selling my set of Subway 'Big Brown Internationals' in ring binders, complete 1840-1940. This is something I will not be doing at earliest until next month. When I do so I will probably post with a price and details in the 'For sale' topic. Would probably want to sell the pages and retain the binders.

If anyone is interested, keep looking on that sub topic for details.

May not be the best place to post this but I'll try. I'm looking for Scott
International Stock Sheets that fit the Intl album. Two hole, round. I can't find
them on the Amos website. Maybe they don't make them? I'm to the state in
collecting worldwide where I don't want to use hinges on unused stamps that have already
been hinged. I haven't found a new batch of hinges that are very peel-able. So I don't want to further mess up the backs. I know I can use Vario sheets but they don't look
attractive in the middle of a Scott Inernational album.
Thanks---Dave

You're correct. Scott, through the Advantage brand, only has stock pages for the National and Specialty albums.

I checked at Subway, and under the G&K brand they have white card stockpages to fit the International binders. I don't think that those pages have printed borders, but it doesn't say for sure. You may want to give them a call and see if it can meet your needs. The product number is ZSC-ADNR. The sheets come with from 1 to 6 rows.
