Has anyone seen the new stamp issued by the Faroe Islands (I believe they issued the stamp) that was printed on fish skin? Not so sure I would want to add this one to my album!

You could buy it from that site, via the link.

But you may want to think twice about doing that. The stamp costs 50.00DKK, plus 20.00DKK for postage, plus 10.00DKK for paying by card (they permit Paypal though). I also saw a 20.00DKK handling fee charge when I first accessed the site; but this disappeared. It may though reappear when you come to pay.

DKK is Danish Krone. So the minimum you'll pay is about $10 (plus $3 if you have to pay the handling fee).

Looks like you'll be skinned alive buying one.

Maybe the Faroes will issue an Adam-skin stamp if he buys one?

How did they work out the problem with the organic fish material?

I have this stamp. The price listed on WOPA for this stamp is $7.74 USD. With shipping & handling, the price would be around $10.00.

re: Faroe Islands Fish Stamp?

Here's the original article (pdf) on Posta Faroe Islands. I found it as I was surfing for descriptions of the WWII provisional issues:

Posta Faroe Islands Nr29

It's pages 8 and 9 of that issue. I post it here, because there is an interesting close-up of the stamp, showing its three-dimensionality. I love how the stamp so closely reflects the most important economic sector of the nation!

By the way, the article on the provisional issues (pages 2-6) is one of the more comprehensive that I have found. Very interesting political and technical production dynamics surrounding those issues...But, that's another topic...
