Ever since the system changes were made in December it seems to be taking an awful long time to load even the smallest of images. It doesn't matter what time of day. Where I used to be able to do auctions in about 30 seconds, it now takes a couple of minutes. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds just to go from screen to screen. Uploads take forever. The bottom corner just says "waiting for stamporama". I admit I use XPSP3 and maybe the system changes don;t like that with an older version of chrome. So I guess my question is is it me?

It seems to be Chrome related as amazingly it is a little faster with an ancient version of Opera. Still uploads are painful

And now its back to normal. Maybe its traffic on the image server? I don't usually do SOR work at 3-4AM but I will, to see if the process is quicker then

Hi Greg,
I don't know of anything that could be causing slowdowns in image uploads. Is anyone else having a similar problem to Greg? More information helps to find these problems.

Regards ... Tim.

Hi Tim,

It could be two things. I certainly won't rule out my provider. It's gotten worse and worse over the years. It could just be traffic. I just did 3 listings (3:15 AM) and they were fine. I'll see what happens this afternoon at my usual time for doing auctions and post the results. Since no one else commented on this post i'm suspecting #1.

re: Did Something Change?

For my afternoon auctions most uploaded image wise in between 10-15 seconds. Certainly slower than it used to be but not by a great deal, Three times however it took over two minutes and once it took so long the connection timed out. Those sort of things never used to happen before. It just hangs with the message "waiting for Stamporama"

Here is another interesting thing. I went to the image upload screen in the members area and upload a batch of images far quicker than the one that was hanging in the system. In fact it was so much faster that I probably will continue to do it this way rather that how I have been doing it all along

This morning I did full page uploads for approval books and everything was fine. I can't make any sense out of it

In our area Frontier has sporadic slowdowns that impact image loading. The attorney general has threatened action as it has affected many businesses. Time will tell

Can you run a speed check and compare slow times to normal conditions. Benchmarks are useful.

re: Did Something Change?

Chris I have no doubt that my ISP could be the problem, as on satisfaction reviews it rates a 2.8 out of 5 and there are intermittent hangups. I used to think it was me but then I began to check and find that everyone seems to have them. The puzzling thing is the batch of images uploading vs one image upload. I uploaded 8 images as a batch in about 30 seconds. The single image upload that was going on at the exact same time never ended and I just closed the tab. The problem may actually have resulted in a good thing as I never played around with the batch image upload and I suspect that over the course of 100 listings it will be at least as fast as it was about a month ago.

I did play with a speed test the other day while an image was uploading and the test looked OK, or at least came back with the results I was expecting. We have no competition here either and I suspect our ISP has expanded so much over the years and has not upgraded the hardware at the same pace

Greg,
When it is slow, go to http://www.speedtest.net/ and do a speed test. Take notice of the upload speed. Normal upload speed is from 4-6 mbps.
