Looks like you are scanning at a low dpi and enlarging.
Instead, scan at 300 or 600 dpi and crop and reduce size to a max of 800 pix wide for the discussion board.

Sorry but it is not a #10. #10 is an Orange Brown and the lines are very crisp and well defined having come from the first printings of the plates. It is one of the most commonly mis-identified early U.S. stamps.
