For the second showing of Semi Postals, Berlin is the page for today.
This is a pretty easy area to complete with just one major exception, the souvenir sheet (shown) @ $500.00.
Shown are the first four pages:
For today the Semi Postals of Austria. Austria is one of the most prolific issuers of semi postals in the world. They are also known to be some of the most beautifully stamps ever issued. The two stamps missing from the Skiing set are the only two stamps that I am missing. They are of fairly high value in contrast to the other two of the set that are of fairly lower value. Semi Postal of Germany were used in Austria from 1938 to 1940
Shown is the first page and 3 other of the best pages.
Sooooo many stamps I've never seen, Mitch! I appreciate your taking the time to share your collection with us!
Keesindy, Thanks, my pleasure! Here are some other you may not have seen.
Today, the Semi Postals of Poland.
Shown are the first four pages.
Note the bottom center stamp of the second page. The grim Nazi of death sprinkling his Zyklon B over a concentration camp
I love that German stamp with the two boys looking at the album and the globe. That's one of the all time classics.
What kind of mount is holding the balloon semi-postal?
Mitch,
Many, many thanks for making the effort and taking the time to show your collection. So many beautiful stamps. I rarely feel envy, but your collection is most certainly one of the times I do. Like you, I think the Austrians have some of the most beautiful stamps of all.
Merv
Merv, Thank, I love showing them to people who can appreciate them.
Ernie, Yes I can remember them from when I was a kid. They felt a lot closer to home then. One of the best stamp collecting topicals ever.
Angore, well you know how hard it is to keep souvenir mounts to fit everyone.
I got tired of running out of them so went looking for an alternative. I generally us Black mounts for mounting stamps and have little us for clear mounts. I had aquired
a large amount of clear mounts in 25X40. I found that if you cut them down the center split and then halfed the length it made for four corners that basically worked on every size. It does not looks as good as Black full mounts but it does the job. Sometimes I have to add another couple to middle of the sides.
For today another country that has a lot of beautiful Semi Postal; Luxembourg.
You will find that most of the countries who issue Semi Postals are either European or European colonies so most of the countries being shown under this thread will be European.
Shown are the first three pages and a couple interesting souvenir sheets.

The showing for today are the Semi Postals of Estonia.
Along with the other two Baltic states, Latvia and Lithuania, their stamps
have a certain folksy element about them that differ from most other countries.
I find them very appealing and are one of my favorite areas to collect.
Shown are the first four pages.
France is one of the most prolific issuers of Semi Postal stamps and it is the showing for today.
Shown are the first four pages.
So many of those are just gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing, Mitchell -- not only these, but all the posts!

Dave, Always happy to share.
I notice that the post I thought I made yesterday is not here for some reason so I'll try it again.
For today the first four pages of the French colony of Algeria is being shown.

The Semi Postals of Liechtenstein are what's on the menu for today.
Shown are all of the four pages of issued stamps and souvenir sheets.

Just one question; what is King Carol holding in his right hand? Doesn't seem a very "kingly" pose, if I might be so bold.
Thanks Mitch.
I missed the page of the day for the last few weeks, as I was traveling.
All caught up now.
Highlight of my day.
rrr...
For today one of my favorites; Belgian Congo.
My particular favorite stamp is the Purple Chimp stamp on the fourth page
Shown are all of the Semi Postals that were issued.
The country for today is Liberia.
Shown are the first two pages from Liberia
Today the short lived German Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.
Shown are the two pages of stamps issued.

For today the Semi Postals of Croatia
Shown are the first two pages and the two best pages.
Hope you are feeling a lot better
Dakota, Thanks much, I am feeling much better today after getting 15 hours of restful sleep.
I've pretty much run out of countries that have a good showing of regular issues, to show.
Also there are some countries that I have yet to make pages for mostly because of lack of interest, these would be Dunes and independent African nations.
Today I,m going to start showing Semi Postals of the world. Semi Postals are stamps that pay the standard fee for delivery plus an additional sum to benefit causes of national concern, most often catastrophes. Often times the additional fee will be an overprint. Not all countries issue Semi Postal stamps but I will show the ones that do in the same order as the regular issues for each country were previously presented. Note that, as a rule of thumb, Semi Postals are generally
more attractive and have higher cat values compared to regular issues of the same periods.
Starting off will be Monaco.
Shown are the first three pages and a later beautiful souvenir sheet, that I've just added within the last month.
The first page is a very difficult one to complete as there are a $1,000 and a $6,500 catalog value stamps, with the rest being fairly scarce.
