I thought I was wrong once, but I was mistaken.

My 2011 Scott Catalogue shows a dash in the value column for a Scott #4157, P# single V333 on cover. I understand what the dash means. My question is does anyone have a newer catalogue that might show a value or just does away with that reference? I have 4 such items.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Bill,

That takes away the dash and at least gives the plate single #V333 a value.

Not to reinstitute confusion, but there is still a dash for the Unused 4157 V333 in the 2017 Scott Specialized catalogue.

$1.50 for the Used, as pedroguy says. But the dash is not taken away for the Unused. The dash wins.

Cheers!
Eric

Well I be dashed also. None of the stamps have any postmarks. They are all on commercial covers. So I suppose that since they are not cancelled, they might be Unused and therefore still have a dash. Who cares if the have gum or not, they will only get a dash.

Oh and I found 2 more. Now have six. Anyone want one?

Mel, the latest PNC3 values list has the V333 on cover priced at $2.50.
Also, this stamp is considered used. The post office is not supposed to cancel these stamps. They do not pass through the automated cancelling and sorting machines like regular mail.

This is a similar later stamp than the one OP is talking about. These are stamps made for bulk mailers. They use them because it's known that people pay more attention to a piece of mail with a stamp on it, than a permit mark.

I keep every one, figure that most folks throw them out. Someday people will be looking for postal use on these. When I get to making my album pages for this era, I will include them all on cover.
