I have this Papua Scott# 34 with a perforated "OS". This isn't listed in Scotts. Does anyone have a Catalog number from any other catalog such as SG or Michel and a value. Thank you.Image Not Found

re: Papua Official Stamp

In the SG "Commonwealth & British Empire Stamps 1840-1970" volume (I have the 2016 edition), they do list this stamp. In fact, they have a whole section of perfin OS stamps (O1-O54) before they start with the OS overprints, which is where Scott begins.

That said, it's hard for me to correctly identify this particular stamp because SG makes a number of distinctions for perforation, watermark & orientation, and color (yellow-green vs vs green vs dark green). There are, if I counted correctly, 8 different listings. They're priced at a range for used of £2.25 to £75.00.

I know that's not as helpful as you'd probably like.

If you can't get your hands on an SG to try to determine the particular type, I can try to scan in those pages sometime in the next several days and send them to you by email.

Or perhaps someone who already has some more background in this series will be able to help provide more assistance in the meantime.

re: Papua Official Stamp

Thanks Dave.

The Scott Specialized catalog lists the perforated stamps but doesn't list them for Papua.

Richard, I'll see if I can scan those pages for you in the next couple of days. (It's just 2-3 pages, if I'm recalling correctly, to cover that series both in the regular issues and the officials.)

We can narrow it down a little ,as it appears to be small Papua.

Dakota, did you find out it's correct cat number. It could be SG.014 if Perf.11 or SG.021 if Perf. 12.5.
