Hi Stacy;
Welcome to SOR! I'm also from Michigan, right here in Baldwin, the county seat of Lake County Michigan and the land of lakes and trout streams that are world famous. Previously I lived in Bitely in Newaygo County.
You can lurk all you want and when you find stamps that you can't figure out where they are from, just post a scan, and we will be glad to help.

Thanks TuskenRaider, I do occasionally have stamps that the country of origin is a mystery so I will take you up on posting the mystery stamps.

Welcome Stacy. Glad to have another worldwide collector on the board. While I use the Scott International for my 1840-1940 collection, I know several collectors who like the Supreme Global a great deal. I hope you will post your experiences using the album.

I too use the Minkus Global Supreme pages (1840-1969) for my WW collection.

jkjblue: Yes, I have read several of your blog entries and I really enjoy the blog. You do a great job with it. I read your detailed comparison of the various albums. It is part of the reason I opted for the Minkus Supreme pages (from Amos Advantage). Also, my Mom had a Minkus Global when she was a teen and when I was growing up I used to marvel at her "huge" detailed album compared to my scrawny dime store album. Thus, I have a certain sentimental attachment to those Minkus album pages.
I just received a huge lot of stamps (a couple of albums and tons of loose stamps) from Ebay today and I'm anxious to start filling those pages. Looks like it will literally take weeks to get through this hoard of stamps, what fun!

Welcome Slscm and Sleepy from chilly Manitoba where the forecast is; Clear. Local blowing snow early this evening. Wind northwest 30 km/h becoming light this evening. Low minus 31. Extreme wind chill minus 40.
These are degrees c and with a NW wind should be with you in a couple of days time, so don't put the woolies away yet.

I certainly agree with you, that Michegan is a beautiful state, especially the Upper Peninsula, a great place nto camp and hunt. I believe the fishing is quite goood as well. no argument at all. It did seem cloudy too frequently though.
But Hawaii, I am afrad is in another league as to fantastic scenery, hunting, fishing, sailing, scuba diving and just lying almost naked on wouderful warm sandy beaches. There are some fine nightclubs and a couple of volcanos worth climbing.
One drawback, which probably is a benefit, the air fare is challenging.

I lived in Mecosta before moving to Grand Rapids. It also was a great place to fish and hunt. Sunfish in the morning for breakfast and bass later on for dinner.
And rabbits in the garden and squirrels in my apple tree.

Thanks for accepting me to your group. I have been lurking on the discussion board for a few weeks and have found so much useful information. I collected stamps as a kid and have just recently gone back to it after a 30-35 year absence. I have recently acquired the Minkus Supreme Global pages from Amos Advantage (years 1840 - 1963) and am so excited about filling these spaces. I attended a stamp show over the weekend and got some good finds. Looking forward to reading posts and contributing. -Stacy
