Can you explain what embellished issues are?
Hi Rob,
I really wish you would stop posting Australian stamps, some of them are very lovely and your posts are making me want to pick my Australian collection back up (which I put away after a very souring experience on the ‘down under’ forum)! You are putting me in a ethical dilemma!
Don
An embellished stamp has a raised image on foil like paper, the feel of the raised stamp and the visual raising of the rear is quite evident. I have darkened the reverse to show the embellished stamp.
It is also known as embossed, the stamp is of a foil paper, stiff and indented.
Normal printing - front
Normal printing - back
Embellished (embossed) printing - front (raised image)
Embellished (embossed) printing - back (showing indented image)
OMG. So that means that for a single stamp design you can now have the "normal" stamp, the peel and stick and this embossed/embellished version.
Are the embossed versions widely available at post offices, or only at philatelic corners (or through the webshop)?
