Hi Rob,
I really wish you would stop posting Australian stamps, some of them are very lovely and your posts are making me want to pick my Australian collection back up (which I put away after a very souring experience on the ‘down under’ forum)! You are putting me in a ethical dilemma! Big Grin Big Grin

An embellished stamp has a raised image on foil like paper, the feel of the raised stamp and the visual raising of the rear is quite evident. I have darkened the reverse to show the embellished stamp.

It is also known as embossed, the stamp is of a foil paper, stiff and indented.

OMG. So that means that for a single stamp design you can now have the "normal" stamp, the peel and stick and this embossed/embellished version.
Are the embossed versions widely available at post offices, or only at philatelic corners (or through the webshop)?

Hi Don

I could show my Swaziland stamp collection, it consists of a solitary 1904 specimen. You had a souring experience with a 'down under' forum. Hmm! I wonder what that one was?Thinking

You can always use this forum.Happy

I'm receiving a few nice varieties tomorrow (if Australia Post is on time), and yes, they're Australian. One block of 4 (Navigator) makes the other one I have complete, quite a scarce set.

Hi Jansimon

Yes, there is a variety to choose from, these embossed (embellished) stamps are only used for very special occasions and come only in a minisheet and sheetlet, and are not used for commercial use (philatelic only), though I suspect some have used one of these for postage.

The Christmas embossed stamps are currently widely issued at Australian post offices for a little while yet, but as mentioned they only come in sheetlets.

I have no idea if these embossed stamps are available at philatelic corners as yet, the Christmas 2017 embossed stamps can currently be bought on the Australia Post website.

I doubt they would still have the Coronation 1953 stamp shown above (issued in 2013). It's a very big stamp (no peel and stick were issued). I'll look around and see if I have one, if you come to a brick wall let me know, I may be able to send one to you.
