Hi Poodle_Mum,
Yes, these are all Belgian revenue stamps.
Most are general revenues but there are a couple of other ones.
The general revenues are all two-part types, some are the full stamps, others are just the top halves.
Here's a quick ID from Barefoot:
Row 1:
1927 10c Bf. #73
1927 40c Bf. #77
1925 10c Bf. #51 x 3
Row 2:
1927 5fr Bf. #87
1925 30c Bf. #54
1925 10c Bf. #51
1925 60c Bf. #57
1925 40c Bf. #55
Row 3:
1925 70c Bf. #58
1923 1fr Bf. #13
1923 100fr Bf. #37
1921/22 1fr - Bills of Lading revenue - Bf. #5
1929 20c Bf. #119
Row 4:
1929 10c Bf. #118
1931 40c Bf. #170
1925 1fr Bf. #65
1921 5c - Receipt revenue - Bf. #1
1923 10c Bf. #1
Row 5:
1923 20c Bf. #2a
1923 30c Bf. #4
1923 60c Bf. #8
1923 50c Bf. #7
1923 20c Bf. #2a
Row 6:
1923 70c Bf. #9
Belgium has issued many sets of general revenues starting in 1923.
These are typically long sets which is why there are some big jumps in the Barefoot catalogue numbers in my last post.
For example, for the first of the sets represented here from 1923, there were 49 values plus another four versions without control numbers, BF. #1 to #49.
The highest number in my 2007 catalogue for these is Bf. #751 from around 2003 so there are certainly a lot out there to collect!
Thank you so much Nigel. These were always a mystery to me.
Many thanks.
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working through Belgium and came across this page I put together years ago. Can anyone give me some insight on identification?
