Conquering the world one stamp at a time

Ok, I got these 2 stamps in the big collection I bought last year. Each one was in a 102 card, marked as Scott #110a, which is an imperf version of #110. But, having looked at the a bit closer, I'm thinking they are just cut outs from a wrapper of some sort, especially he one on the left with it's huge margins.

Here is a scan of both, with a common #110 in the middle for comparison. The paper color just seems wrong to me on the imperf stamps.

Opinions?

You are correct. It is from a wrapper:

Color is not a good identifier for these stamps as most denominations came in a variety of shades.

roy, thank you for confirmation and showing those examples.

Smaugie, I'm finding that out. I have a Maury catalog in the mail right now. I'll probably learn more about these things than I'll ever care to know.
