I just came across this item on another board.
Quite a few years ago Australia Post combined the 50g to 125g and 125g to 250g overseas letter rates into one 50g to 250g category. This annoyed some who mailed items in the 50g to 125g category as they had to pay more, but those mailing items in the 125g to 250g category had to pay less.

Well, it appears that from 1 October 2018, Australia Post is reintroducing the 50g to 125g and 125g to 250g categories. There are no changes to the prices for the under 50g and over 250g rates (except for NZ which drops from $11 to $10.50), so there will probably be no new stamps for the new rates (although they may release or reissue stamps for the 50g to 125g rates of $4.20, $4.60 and $7.50).
As it was we had up to 50 grams then it was one rate from 50 grams to 250 grams at $9-00 this change should make it cheaper for overseas buyers who go over the 50 gram limit ,but don't go anywhere near 250 grams.

re: Australia post changing international postage rates

Hey, what do you Aussies think of your postal service in general?

I've seen some bitter comments here on SOR (don't we all have them, no matter where we're from?) including some slagging of your last Postmaster (who I got the impression, from comments, was a useless twit) and the new one (a self-indulgent tw*t).

I ask this, because a National newspaper in Canada recently ran an editorial declaring that our postal system could use a drastic overhaul - and based their vision of our potential utopian future on another country with "a huge geography and a relatively small population base" ...

AUSTRALIA !!!

So, do you folks who live down-under consider yourself to be the "gold standard"?

Cheers, Dave.

You have got to be joking ,recently I posted off a letter to a fellow member who lives in Victoria,It's about a days drive from Adelaide to Melbourne ( state capital of Victoria) the letter took SIX weeks ,I could have walked there and hand delivered it.Lots of posts on another board about Aussie post ,Registered mail going round in circles for months.
For what we are paying I would expect much better service.
