The year is suppose to be 38 but there is no 3
A quick Google search tells us that there are Mickey Creeks in both Queensland and Tasmania. I leave you to decide which!
Hi Pooh
The top stamp has a very faint 3, only minute traces of the 3 is seen; and the stamp is from Mickey's Creek in Queensland (you can see the "Q").
The bottom stamp is 1938, this stamp was not used in 1958.
I have no idea where in Qld or Tasmania Mickey's Creek would be situated.
Rob
Am I the only one that can see "NSW" at the bottom of the "Mickey's" Creek postmark???
It's actually Hickey's Creek, located about 70km inland from South West Rocks, on the mid-north coast
Actually I should correct the info about the top stamp, I meant to say that the area is Murgon Qld, not Mickey's Creek. As the stamp in the bottom image is not enlarged, the "H" looks like an "M". I originally thought the bottom of the postmark was "NSW", but my vision has been hazy this past week (diabetes) and couldn't quite recognise it, so I thought nothing more of it.
Rob
Here is another stamp with the number 3 missing
Looks like Five Dock NSW
Tasnaki
Thankyou for this and also the number 3 is missing from the year 38
If any part of the numbering of a postmark is missing, it is mostly caused by the cancellation not pressed efficiently enough to create a deep impression on the envelope.
Other causes can be previous collectors manhandling the stamp; also left in a solution to remove the stamp from the envelope.
Rob
Could someone please tell me where Mickey's Creek is?? Also the last number is it 38 or 58 as there is a bit of ink over it
