Looks to be Scott 674 from 1996. 2018 CV used is $3.00

Ikey - I just so happened to go to the library today, and I checked out the 2019 Scott 4A Catalogue:
Kenya Scott #674
Linus

The elephant in the room is the apparent 1990 cancellation on a 1996 stamp. I suppose that could have been an error in setting up the cancelling device, but it sure looks like a "0"...
ikey, could the characters immediately above "KENYA" be the year, instead? You have plenty of examples of the cancellation to look at...

Thank you!
Three dollars each ?
There are fifteen copies of the stamp on that cover.
Does that mean that I should list my cover on eBay for U$D 45 ?
Trusting the catalog, I've reviewed the very smudgy postmarks on the entire, and can now see the occasionally barely legible '96' beneath the '2 JY'.
I wonder if the '90' above the date is for the clerk, or the branch?
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey
Was it just coincidence that you posted the cover on its 23rd birthday?
-Paul
Scott is probably valuing the stamps at double face value. In my experience from kiloware, Kenyan stamps saw plenty of postal use. I used to really enjoy going through African and Caribbean kiloware to see what was actually normally used postally. Of course, sources for recent kiloware have almost completely vanished.

ikey are you a dealer now ?

Paul: I felt lucky to read that smudgy postmark, let alone think about its anniversary.
Phil: nope, not dealing ... I wrote "list my cover on eBay", not "sell my cover on eBay"

Ikey, you travel to shows...there is a big on in Albany July 20/21 postal history,stamps,postcards....we usually go on the first day(Saturday) but i am having cataract surgery on the 19th so i better give it a day and drive on Sunday. phil
Phil, I'd offer to drop-by and pick y'all up on the way, but I've got a granddaughter visiting and, while she's congenial & easily amused, somehow two three-hour-drives and a stamp show seems like pushing it ...
Unless, of course, the Hamilton tickets, for later that week, are enough to make that up to her ...
Cheers,

that is the question, i made the attempt. Cheers, phil

I was unable to find this stamp at Colnect or StampWorld and, worse, cannot find the stamp in all of those catalogs that I ain't got.
I read the postmark as 19900702 Thika.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thika
As the cover was sent registered mail, I am confident that the 15x stamps festooning that cover are real, but what do I know?

Another magnificent & ridiculous cover out of a dollar box at NAPEX.
Please pass along catalog IDs for this stamp.
Cheers,
/s/ ikeyPikey (who only now sees that the cover needs flattening & re-scanning)
