I have decided to expand my Russian collection by including the stamps for the Russian Occupation of Germany. I know the codes are 11N - 15N. Of course they are not in the Scott's catalog even though Vol II of Scott's International album shows a few of the stamps under Germany. Would I need a German Specified album to find these stamps? I did managed to find pages for these stamps on E-Bay that some wonderful person labeled for me, but I don't think ( actually I know for sure ) that some of the stamps are omitted from these pages. I would really like to know which catalog would include these stamps. I do have Stanley Gibbons Russian Catalog and they are not there. I would prefer Scott's specialized for Germany but I would like to know if they even list the stamps. Could anyone help?

Harvey,

They are listed at the end of German Democratic Republic in my Scott's volume 3. Page 251 in my 2011 volume.

Thanks very much - I really should have thought of that considering when the GDR was set up. I've never been a huge fan of GDR stamps, I much prefer the earlier German stuff, so I guess I don't look at that part of the catalog very often. I guess that thread can be ended. There are very few questions that remain unanswered when thrown into the StampoRama!

Hello Harvey,
The Russian occupation zone is slightly larger than you believe, i think.
It can be divided into the following sections :
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
Bundesland Sachsen
Ost Sachsen
Provinz Sachsen
Thuringen
West Sachsen
Algemeine Ausgaben (General issues)
And in those "General issues" there are a lot of districts
Bezirk 3, Bezirk 14, Bezirk 16, Bezirk 20, Bezirk 27, Bezirk 29 etc.

Those district stamps are a study area on there own (thousands of stamps!)

When you are really into this I would prefere the MICHEL catalog.
Minor point for you : It's all in German

Bengue,

I think you are mistaken.

The above list that you typed is handling the "DEUTSCHE LOKALAUSGABEN AB 1945"

And yes, those cities ( and areas ) are all in the later called EAST Germany
