COLLECTION FOR SALE.

Have a collection my great grandparents started as kids and has been handed down to me, from the little research i have done online it seems as there may be some items that would be of interest to collectors but would love to get opinions and help from serious collectors such as the members on this forum/site. will upload a few photos to give general idea but there is 1000s of various stamps from around the world in various conditions ranging from mint in packaging (collector sets or novelty sets im assuming) to some very very old ones collected from my great grandparents as kids. (1900-present)
Thank you for your time and advice,
Micheal

re: varied collection for sale - Would love help/advice from professional collectors

First, you should check out your library, or use an online site to look over stamps that are similar to what you have. Unchecked, presume that you have the lowest valued stamp when there are similar stamps.

See this site: https://www.stampworld.com/en/

Also see this site that will help you with your inherited collection: https://stamps.org/services/inherited-a-collection

Second, just because stamps are "very old" doesn't mean that they are valuable.

Third, at least a couple of the stamps that are mounted on pages in your pictures show signs of having been attached to the page with tape. Those are worthless. The acid in the tape adhesive destroys the stamp.

Fourth, condition is everything. Defects will greatly diminish the value of a stamp.

Fifth, the stamps on the pages are mostly common stamps.

Sixth, the stamps on the black stock pages is where you have the nicer (condition) stamps. Be advised, however, that they appear to be common stamps. However, the stamps will draw better interest in a sale, albeit you do not have anything showing that will let you quit your job.

Seventh, you can always decide that you want to keep the stamps and start a collection of your own. That in turn will honor the memory of those who collected the stamps, and those who handed it down to you. Plus, you'll have a bunch of fun too!

The earliest stamp you have is from 1841, but unfortunately none shown have any real value and are considered common. You have some official and seems to be some private perfins (punctured holes in the stamps), though of no real value may be of interest to those that collect them.

If you have more post them, who knows, there may be a stamp(s) that will stand out. I've been collecting for 43 years and built up a specialised collection of Australian stamps as well as British and New Zealand stamps and have sound knowledge of Australian stamps.

The British stamps are also of no real value.
