Have just been going through the collection I recently bought and have noticed that a lot of the longer sets are made up of mainly mint but with the occasional used stamp...please see the scan.
I probably will not be keeping the collection ( my friend who is a dealer keeps on getting nice collections etc which do not fit into his area of interest ( mnh GB ) and offers them to me and I being a fairly typical collector end up buying them even if they do not fit into MY areas of interestHappy ) ....mainly machins and George 6th Colonial issues.
Is it worth my while trying to replace the used with mint or in your opinion does the mix not ruin the visual appeal or if I ever get around to selling them the realisation?

re: French Colonies...Alexandretta sets mint and used....

Nice page and an area I collect with passion. Value wise there is just a small difference between M and used (MNH do cost more), and my own preference is to collect used as they have more character, but I know the purists prefer MNH so as always, each one his or her own. Often it is easier to acquire Mint sets, and the used collections often reflect the additions of a stamp at a time...a true badge of honor for collectors in my view.

You can see my collection in an article I posted on Stamporama some time ago...just check the link. https://stamporama.com/discboard/disc_main.php?action=20&id=15303#114895

Again, nice page no matter what you decide to do in the future.
