I recently acquired a small collection of world-wide stamps dating ca. 1962 or earlier and I've come across a few items that I either can't find in my Scott's catalog or I just can't identify. I'm guessing they have no real value but I would still like to know something about these stamps. They appear to be French revenue stamps. Any idea as to the dates issued? How common are they? Any input will be appreciated. Take Care, Big Daddy Dave

re: Request for Information...

Hi Dave,

These are French revenues plus one Belgian one.

They're not worth anything although fun to have.Happy

As far as I can see, looking at the terrible illustrations in my old Yvert et Tellier catalogue they are:

- 50c green & red - France Y&T Quittances 23 (1920)

- 50c & 2/10 blue with black figures - France Y&T Copies 13 (1893)

- 25c bistre, blue & brown - France Y&T Timbre Fiscal 9 (1925)

- 25c blue & red - France Y&T Quittances 22 (1920)

- 500g blue - France Y&T Chicorée 20 (1932)

- 5F red & black - top half of Belgium Bf Revenue 87 (1927)

- 10c grey brown - France Y&T Quittances 11a (1891)

- 3F (+ surcharge) violet - France Y&T Dimension 88 (1924)

I guess the most interesting one is for the tax on chicory!

The Bf number is from the Barefoot Benelux Revenues catalogue.

I hope this helps a little.Happy
