Phil,
According to my 2016 Scott Classic Specialized, you are correct in your
two number possibilities - 59 (1867-78) or 67 (1881).
According to the color I see, I would assume it to be 59 violet
and not 67 deep violet.
It also states that the 1881 series (#'s 60-68) are on granite paper that contains
fragments of blue and red silk threads, of which I can see none in your image.
However, a better look by YOU can verify that
Good luck!
Thankee, it was in a stockcard purchased many moons ago, when i see the catalog values on those early Swiss..wait a minute how can that be ?
Looks like a very good copy, too!
Yes, not bad...i am probably the only person i know that hopes the stamp is the lower value one than the higher..crazy!
If it's the higher value one, sell it and use the money to buy
a very, very, very fine copy of the other one!
I am trying to catalog this stamp..the only types i can find are scott #59 and #67, could i have something of that hi catalog ? this is side 1
