To me one of the more interesting long-running definitive series is Malaya’s “Coconut” stamps which feature the visages of various sultans as well as British monarchs.

While many articles regarding this series have appeared across the decades in the philatelic press, I recently came across the works of a young philatelist in Singapore who has (literally) made these stamps his passion: Lin Yangchen.

SOR members sharing an interest in the “Coconut” stamps may be interested in two fairly recent resources:

“Definitive Postage Stamps of Malaya”, Lin Yangchen, March 2017. (Accessed via The Philatelic Database.)

“Malaya’s Timeless Design (Coconut Stamps), Lin Yangchen.

re: Malaya: Coconut stamps

I Googled "Malaya Lin Yangchen" and found this page with a LOT of coconut-related information... check out the "Coconut Bus"!

I enjoy these definitives and the rest of the Malaya/Straits/Malaysia issues, too. Most of my hoard is still poorly sorted, but these have made it into an album....

PS, if any of you use "the Twitter", this gentleman also has some VERY interesting pics and artistic/scientific studies relating to Malay stamps and GB Machins. He appears to be VERY talented. Check him out:
