re: Washington 2 Cents: Sc. 444, Sc. 453, Sc. 491 or other?

Choices are:

Single Line - Flat Plate - Type I - #444
Single Line - Rotary Press - Type I - #453
Single Line - Rotary Press - Type II - #454
Single Line - Rotary Press - Type III - #455
None - Rotary Press - Type II - #491
None - Rotary Press - Type III - #492

Hard to say given a single front-side image only and not having the stamp in hand. Is there setoff on the back? Is there a watermark?

To determine the Type you can refer to this page

Any person collecting early US really has to develop some patience and several skills - perfs, watermarks, types of paper, color shades, etc. My patience is not great so sometimes I ask my long-time stamp dealer for a bit of help. Occasionally I send him a few stamps to identify and his rates are very fair. But if you don't have that option you had better develop some major stamp skills!

I believe I have narrowed it down to a type II meaning it is either Sc. 454 or Sc. 491.
