THE RESULTS ARE IN! THE CONTEST IS CLOSED.
There were 22 answers submitted.
15 were correct
5 were wrong
2 were disqualified for not following the instructions
The correct answer I was looking for is: Queen Elizabeth was trained as a mechanic. Almost everyone added truck driver which was also part of her WWII duties, but it was her mechanic training that I was looking for.
The winners:
the 2nd person to submit the correct answer = david13617
the 13th person to submit the correct answer = sheepshanks
The consolation question asked for the reason for the 2nd and 13th answers. The answer is that is my birthday (February 13).
the winner of the consolation prize = pogopossum

Geoffrey, I shall contact you via private message regarding your $13.00 prize. Due to Discussion Board rules, I can't say what it is here it here.
Thanks to everyone who played the game. I got some interesting responses, and some interesting history too.
Keep an eye out. I shall be offering another similar contest in the near future. The prize on this one seems to have an error in the Scott Catalogue listing. I have contacted Scott about it. They are researching the matter. I need to keep it handy in case they need pictures.

Thanks Michael, not often I ever win anything, not even an argument with the wife.
Talking of cold we are in a period of intense cold weather here in Manitoba with wind chills down to minus 50c, daytime highs of -25, nighttime lows of minus 35. Had to put a long sleeved t shirt on when I went out to fill up the bird feeders!
