The 1925 Postage Due series consists of four values - 1/2d, 1d, 2d & 6d.
SG lists watermark varieties for the 1d and 2d values:
1d sideways watermark cat £1200 mint £600 used
1d watermark inverted and reversed cat £170 mint and used
2d sideways watermark cat £55 mint £17 used
2d inverted watermark cat £90 mint £35 used
2d sideways and inverted watermark cat £85 mint £45 used
The 1940 series consists of nine values all, except for the 10d value, are listed with inverted or sideways watermarks. With catalogue values ranging between £10 and £450.
I only collect pre-decimal Ireland i.e until 1970, so have no idea as to newer issues.
Personally, I don't specifically seek out the watermark varieties, however, if I do come across one I make a note in my inventory.

Thanks Clive - great information. Watermarks are not my favourite thing and I think I'll stay away, but it's great to know they exist. I'll eventually get around to checking the ones I have just in case. There really isn't much information that this group doesn't have!
I was corresponding with someone on another forum that I'd just picked up some early Ireland overprints from. He asked me if I was interested in the postage due inverted watermark varieties for Ireland. I said "no" since I much more interested in the regular stamps than varieties. Then I noticed that nothing was mentioned in Scott's about inverted watermarks for these stamps. Can any Ireland collector in the group provide me with any information?
