I personally would ignore the blue line as this was common during the time of usage. To me the interest is in the postmark of Jersey.
Of course some collectors would decry the blue line and say it reduces the value but with any stamp the value is in the eye of the beholder.
Thanks for the comment Ian, I missed one this week at £250, went for £275 plus fees & S/H. There is another one on All Nations Auctions, here in Canada but it has a corner crease and I think I'd rather have the blue line than the crease.
I will see where they are at later in the week when bids are updated.
Vic, I would not even consider buying one with even a very minor crease. I would be prepared to wait for a better copy to appear even if it takes months!
Myself, as a cover collector, I find the blue registration lines, usually maid by grease pen, are an enhancement, not a detraction. They help document HOW the stamp was used. And i wouldn't call it a flaw. It's a postal marking
I agree, I don't mind the blue line at all and I like the postmark and the colour of the stamp.
I'm not so keen on the short perf at the top towards the right.
Thanks for the input everyone, it is appreciated. An occasional short perf I do not mind, most older stamps had very uneven ones at the best of times.
Guess I will stick in a bid and see what happens. This stamp certainly seems overpriced in the catalogues, compared to current going prices at various sites.
Edit,
Now if only I could afford this pair. Dream on lad!
Hi Bob, here is a link, I hope.

I agree with others. The blue line is evidence that the stamp was postally used, as opposed to a revenue usage. To me that makes it more valuable.
Not sure on whether to put in an offer on this one, nice looking stamp but wary on the vertical blue line.
How do our members see it affecting the value, somewhat or not at all?
