I have been unable to identify the origin of these three overprinted stamps. Need Scott numbers and/or value if known. Thanks.Image Not Found

re: Mystery Soviet Republic??

Just had a look through my Minkus Russia album in the BOB section and these appear to be Armrnia 1920 - 1921, Russia stamps overprinted. There are many overprints in Scott's but the section is difficult. I'll take a better look tomorrow when I have a bit more time.
Edit: Don't have these myself, but they would look great in my album. If you can figure out a fair price I would love to have a chance to bid on them.Big Grin
Edit #2: I do have a copy of Stanley Gibbons Part 10 which is Russia. I found them under Armenia, they are a series numbered 182 - 186 and list for $31 each, that's the good news! The bad news is their comment is "many forgeries exist"! The series I mentioned is on values 1, 3r50, 5, 7, and 10. They mention a series with different denominations for which a value is "yet to be determined". I think you probably either have them accepted as repros or send them away!
The read deal would be considered to be the Russian Republic of Erivan (now Yerevan) captured by the Russian Red Army in 1921. These represent a type of inflation currency.

re: Mystery Soviet Republic??

Thanks Joe for the offer. However, right now, I do not possess the three stamps in question. I am trying to buy them from a local dealer. The dealer has been unable to find a reference and is reluctant to give me a price until they are cataloged. I specialize in Russia and Soviet Republics, and I have never seen this particular overprint on stamps from those areas. I will keep you posted on the outcome and will also watch for other interesting overprints.

Just in case you didn't see my edit #2, I have them identified and they are probably reproductions. Unless the person who has them has some provenance for them, for example, a well known Russian collection or certificates. If not, I would probably stay away, if I were you. Unless, of course, if the price is right.
