I came across proofs/test prints in the old catalog that are no longer mentioned in the new Michel.
That is why I am now going to talk about proofs of the German Reich.
It is of course not complete because all kinds of novelties are discovered over the years.
In addition, the existing list is from the 1992 catalog.
First scan the old pages to give an impression.
Then some examples that are in this list.
Some notions before :
A proof / test print is understood to mean the final print before the start of the actual print run intended for retail or, in the case of postage stamps, the postage stamps intended for the postal service.
The proof / test print is used to check the printing form again.
The final determination of the printing color is then also made.
Every now and then it happens that test copies reach the market as highly valued rarities, which are very much sought after by collectors.
Abbrevations :
DR = Deutsches Reich (= German Reich)
P = Probedruck (= proof / test print)
VK = Vorlage Karton (= Template cardboard) Hope this is a good translation !!!!!
IV = ( = part number given in roman numerals )
SO DR 862P III VK 3 farben MEANS :
Michelnr 862 from the German Reich as a test print number 3 presented on a template cardboard.

However, I still think that Michel is the best catalogue (where some information is not specified in detail, the catalogue refers to the title of the catalogue/speciality book where it can be found - unfortunately still in German).
I checked in Michel specialized 2019 and still most of the print proofs are mentioned and valued

Well in my Catalogs of 2012 and 2017 I did not find those print proofs and values.
And I agree, Michel is the best catalog for collectors of german stamps.
In previous posts on SOR I saw that there is an English version too now-a-days.

In response to a question about gum and paper variations of the Hitler stamps, I took a closer look in the old Michel catalog from 1992.

Well in my Catalogs of 2012 and 2017 I did not find those print proofs and values.
And I agree, Michel is the best catalog for collectors of german stamps.
