The different stamp was probably bathed a bit too long if you ask me. That or the method of separating the stamp from envelope altered the colour.

The Year of the Snake stamp from the sheet issued January 15, 2021 is Scott #3259e and has a micro printed date somewhere on each stamp.
The Year of the Snake stamp issued January 10, 2012 is Scott #2495.
Check both of the stamps you are showing for the microprinted date.
I'm not sure where on the stamp this date is shown as I do not have one of the souvenir sheets or any single stamps of this issue to compare with the older issue.

D'oh! I have the booklet and souvenir sheet from this year. 2021 is printed in the lower left hand corner of the red background. This year's date is of course 2021. As patches mentioned, the original will have 2012 on it, probably in the same place. I can't see anything on your photo.
The 2021 booklet has a different stamp than what you are concerned about.

#2495 issued January 10, 2012 does have 2012 printed in the lower left hand corner of the red background.
Your scan is not clear enough for me to see what dates are on your stamps.
To my knowledge there were only the two printings of this Year of the Dragon stamp #2495 & #3259e.

looking for help to ID a single year of the dragon stamp, that appears to be a different colour than the 2012 (scott # 2465) or the 2021 pane issue. was there a booklet or quarter pack issue that was a different colour? (aka "Color") I believe it is diecut. thanks
