This partial set (missing the 5ø) was issued April 1, 1953. Issued with three gums.
DAKA just lists values for the "folioplast" gum.
Folioplast gum is white
Royal paper gum is yellow-brown
Davac gum is invisible
Hi, BrightonPete!
Looks like I'll have to track down a copy of the 5 oryu to complete the set! I checked the gum on the backsides, and it appears to either be white or "invisible," definitely not the yellow-brown.
Issued from 1953 to 1977, employers would give their employees these stamps for their earned vacation time. The stamps were placed in "vacation savings books" and were to be redeemed at the post office for cash, and had to be redeemed in the year they were earned. Stamps not redeemed by year-end could not be carried over into the following year and became worthless.
There were a couple of printings, and I believe they are listed in the Danish Daka catalog for the Faroes.
