I saw this tonight in the Stamporama auction mistakenly identified as a US cinderella and thought it would make an interesting post, with a few more examples.
It is actually the Australian 1954 Antarctic Expedition. The aircraft registration of VH- is also a clue, as that's one of the registration prefixes assigned to Australia (in the US, it would be the "N" number, in Canada C-F or C-G (previous CF- and CG-)). If you know tail numbers, you can almost always know where movies were shot, if they include aircraft, especially movies that are supposed to be in the US, but shot in Canada.
Here are a few more examples of these cinderellas from my "sold database". I do not have any information on all the varieties. Maybe somebody can add that.
