Just rec'd a mailing from a stamp trader pal in Norway. He used a m/s issued on 11/5/2021 (per Colnect. 65,000 issued).Face value is 55Kr. The m/s celebrates the 200th Anniv of the Norway flag.

Any info regarding the Scott Catalog number for the m/s would be appreciate. Thanks in advance.

Mike

I have the 2022 Scott Catalogue Volume 5A from my local library. The newest stamp listed for Norway is the Christmas set issued November 6, 2020.

Your m/s is not listed. You will need something newer than the 2022 catalogue.

Mel, it's too new to be in Scott. I checked up through the March 2022 new issue update in Linns. Remember that the 2022 catalogues were printed in 2021, with listings and values generally up to the end of 2020. Volume 5 of the 2023 catalogue will be issued in August 2022. The sheet will probably appear in a new issue update prior to then.

I have been waiting for a long time for Scott to list numbers for all of the 2021 issues. I asked Linn's a while back if they could give me any idea when they might be in the Scott's Stamp Monthly. I got a nice sarcastic reply but no answer to my question.

Linn's had a column in a recent issue about challenges getting new issue information and stamps from postal agencies. Scott usually wants stamps in hand before adding it to the catalog.

It seems only Yvert has already assigned a number to it. Pretty rare item by the looks of it!

re: Looking for a Scott number for a m/s from Norway issued 11/5/2021

Michael & Linus. Thanks for checking. Guess I will have to wait awhile on Scott to assign a number to it.

Jan, the quantity listed of only 65,000 issued did catch my eye. I do plan on listing it for sale on my Hipstamp account after I soak it off, so now mentally debating what to list it for. All my listings there are BIN priced. My Colnect trader penpal has been using recent m/s or s/s on his mailings to me and I have a following there who view my new issue listings there whenever I list them.

Since it looks like it will be awhile before Scott assigns a number to it, I will just use the date of issue to list it there when it is ready in a few days.

Thanks again

re: Looking for a Scott number for a m/s from Norway issued 11/5/2021

Hi All,

Well my Norway penpal has sent me another letter, this one flanked with the John Ugelstad s/s issued 10/2/2021, another 65K issued s/s. He also included the 1976 Stamp Expo folder which had around 13 MNH sets on 1976 Norway issues. Guess will list the s/s without a Scott number on Hipstamp also. Looks like a busy soaking and scanning weekend coming up.

Just returned home after 4 days in the hospital due to a bad blood chemistry reaction to the cancer drugs I am on so will have the time available to get things done this weekend.

Regards to all

Mike in NC / meostamps

PS..thinking a BIN price of 7.00 would be a fair price to ask for based on the low printing quantity of 65K listed on Colnect for each of the s/s. Colnect shows the quantity issued for both the s/s and just the stamp to each be 65K so I am wondering if a total of 65K stamps were only issued for each group and if they are counting the 65K printed actually twice. They do not mention any actually perfection gauge for either and when I blow up the picture they have the perfs. appear to be of the same type. Again, any comments appreciated. Thanks in advance.

PSS: to further clarify my quantity printed question, did they print a total of 65K of the s/s's and then another 65K single stamps, maybe in a booklet or old fashion sheet format for a total of 130K stamps printed for each issue OR were they only issued in the s/s format and that was for a total of 65K and Colnect is reporting it that way. Hope that helps. Thanks Again for any info. Mike

Hi Richard. Thank you for your messages. Will make any Scott # adjustments for my open items. Also will send a message to the stamp guy at Colnect for them to add the Scott number to their database so others will be able to see that info. They ae good in doing that, usually overnight. Thanks again Mike
