that's interesting, Theresa
Do you have collection(s) you're considering posting (I see your Germany, but it seemed you were breaking it apart)?
Others? Interest in selling collections? Buying collections?
If we did this, would people indicate something like ENTRY LEVEL, MID-LEVEL, NEARLY COMPLETE or other ways of describing their wares?
Wow I hadn’t thought much beyond adding the term then let the seller further describe the lot. The term “collection” covers a LOT of real estate, but in general it signifies something different from a mixture or packet. To me it means better material and some sequential ordering at least.
As to my Germany; I’m breaking it into the normal sections associated with that country - Berlin, Bundes, Reich, etc. Actually, I don’t think ANY other country is so commonly split up into so many categories as Germany. Most collections I sell are divided into mint, MH or used and I often break larger groups into eras. Most commonly, I will put classics up to the 1940s in a separate auction. But, every collection is unique. Also, we sell to collectors here, not dealers. I doubt these folks are looking to buy massive intact collections priced in four figures. Best to offer in smaller, more specific bite size lots.
Best bet, in my humble opinion, is to let the seller describe the collection as there are too many variables to create categories.

The only change that is needed is to rename the category to "Collections, mixtures, and packets".
YES! Thank you, Al. That is exactly the only change I am requesting. We really don’t need a new category or anything, just expand the existing one by simply adding one word. No biggie.
Thank you, Mr Web Wizard! We now have Collections mentioned.
I'm going to pray that we can go at least a couple months before we start to see analysis and criticisms about how this is as evil as "Worldwide" listings. (JK)
It's a good idea Theresa, and additional options + innovation will hopefully encourage more folks to see us as a welcoming, diverse environment for stamp collectors/buyers/sellers of all levels - and join our gang of misfits.
Have a blessed day! Dave.
Our auction doesn’t have a “collections” category. Could we please add that word to the “Mixtures and Packets” category? A collection implies order and less duplication and better range than either of those two.
Thank you for considering my suggestion.
