I do not think they have killed the golden goose yet. You can still get them used as well since they are really the only definitive they issue. In comparison, the US definitives are usually drap variations of flags or parts of flags. What slowed me down was the security features (die cuts, printing codes, etc).
The question is when the Queen passes, if the replacements will be as popular.
Maybe when the Horizon fiasco is finally settled, they will issue a set of stamps to remember the pain and suffering caused to hundreds of families and individuals, and the lives lost by the stress the management created. Perhaps a set with the management's heads on spikes or them queueing outside the job centre after the prison stretch.
Regarding Machins, they are still being issued to keep up with increased postal costs, and I guess we will see at the end a set with a black border.
I had not heard about the Horizon issue but after a brief search it seems bizarre.
I do remember when comments about UK stamps were quite popular and when Machins
were all the rage. There were few weeks without a comment.
Could it be that Royal Mail has finally killed the golden egg laying goose with its often excessively trivial issues ?
The most interesting question I've gotten lately was; "What is a wilding ? Does it have something to do with running through Central Park completely Naked ?"
