i am guessing that this originated in Guam and that the SLC cxl is from the time it was forwarded from SLC to LA.
i doubt Mr. would mail something AIRMAIL to Mrs in the same city.
I think that Mr may have been a US contractor on Guam, dropping a note to the Mrs back home. Though he may come back home to find she moved on to California!
I've seen instances like that in the military. Husband is deployed for 6 months (or whatever), returns to find someone else living in the PMQ he thought he happily shared with the wife!

A little digging with the information on the cover shows that Hal was born in 1917 and worked as a aircraft structural engineer for Lockheed in California during WWII. So a deferment from the Draft.
He married Phyllis Cassity in California in 1942.
In 1950 the couple had 2 daughters born in 1945 and 1947 and still lived in California.
The address in Utah may have been a friend or family member that Phyllis and her young daughters were staying with while Hal was on assignment for Lockheed.
Hal may be preparing to return home at the end of assignment or on leave.
Charlie,
Thank you so much for looking that information up. I'll include the information with the cover in my system.
Regards ... Tim.
This is an interesting cover. Sent from Hal V. Hughes in Salt Lake City UT, to Mrs. Phyllis C. Huges (initially in Salt Lake) forwarded to Los Angeles CA. But it is post marked from Guam 5 days prior to the Salt Lake City cancel.
