I did see that Greg did indeed put up some nice early USA material. Folks take a look!
Greg and Carl have both been putting up excellent vintage material. There are several others who do as well on occasion. NOW WHAT WE HAVE TO DO IS BUY THE STUFF!!! IT'S OUR TURN!! Their prices are very fair, so come on, have a look!!
I try to post an "auction item of the day" on Facebook regularly (daily is still a bit of a challenge, with normal life interfering) in order to lure people to the auction pages. Some self-imposed restrictions are that it has to be a normal auction without Buy it now, otherwise the item might be gone already when people go look for it, and it has to be a good cross-section of what is on offer. I do not want to give the impression it is only expensive classic USA what is on offer.
Thanks for the plug David. As I mention (I think) when I post to the auction discussion board, these are all from a US dealers stock that was inherited by the widow I am selling them for. There are more stamps here than can ever be sold by me and I just pick out a few to list each week. Joe (Harvey) bought quite a number of stamps a while back. I have been reluctant to put up some higher catalog items but will try to add a few next week since there does seem to be some interest of late. The stock pretty much stops at the end of 1939. I will say that I go by his cataloging for the early material, as he specialized in US, and I never was a US dealer. If for any reason you get a stamp and don't believe it is cataloged correctly, by all means send it back for a refund. He has a number of grill types which I have not gotten into as well as a number of early issues which he has not even identified for sure, so I have not listed them. He had marked them to be sent to the APS for identification but that can cost some bucks if I were to send them all!
Greg
As auctioneer, i used to post weekly highlights from the auction. I tried to give broad coverage, including both things I love and things about which I know nothing. I aimed for things that weren't normally seen or things that hit my funny bone.
Greg added a large number of US and related lots, all as BINs, in the auction. We seldom get these higher value lots, so I thought, at least for a moment, I'd resurrect my old ringmaster's top hat, cane, and cape and highlight this group, showing only one (and you can look at the others)
https://stamporama.com/auction/auction_m ... .
Used US C1, fairly nicely centered with all the perfs.
