I will continue collecting GB definitives, with or without barcodes, but commemoratives only if they come my way, too many issues and mostly purely commercial.
A thought with the barcodes is that if you record the code for each of your stamps, then for insurance purposes it will help as a record. Also if the collection is stolen at any point then it could assist recovery.
" ... Has anyone considered collecting
starting with bar code Machins or Charles III? ..."
Starting at that point seems interesting, but will
eventually lead to filling in the earlier issues.
Whether starting or resuming, interest in the
seemingly moribund, vexatious Machin series
may well be about to rise.
Two events have made fresh opportunities for those of us who collect GB stamps: the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the addition of bar codes to the Machin series (which I assume will continue with King Charles III definitives).
I currently collect GB up to 2009, for no reason other than that is as far as I printed album pages. I have separate Machin pages but only on the basic level – any more than that I get dizzy.
Has anyone considered collecting starting with bar code Machins or Charles III? What do you think is the best way to approach this? I am sure it will be a rabbit-hole eventually.
Cheers,
Geoff
