In the last two decades of the 19th century, various city post offices had their own personalized "Registered" markings made. They were made more uniform in the 20th Century

I collect auxiliary markings on cover, so Registered mail is right up my alley. Here is another privately made registration stamp from Minneapolis (on cover front).
Here is a registered cover that was also forwarded, with negative registration marking.
Here is a registered cover with old postage that was "Found in ordinary mail." Someone messed up there. It also has two "Received in Bad Condition" markings some kind of tape sealing the bottom of the envelope.
Antonio, thats great that you are finding those covers from your area. I collect covers from the Hudson Valley...mainly the area within 40 miles of my home.
