I went into E-Bay last night and a buyer I buy from quite regularly had a bunch of state duck stamps at auction with only a few hours left. I bid on four and got all 4 for less than $24 with a combined shipping of $2. Now there are 4 down (Montana, Hawaii, South Dakota, Virginia) with 46, plus a few regions and Native reserves, to go. At least I started!!

re: Started my one / state duck stamp collection

So you got four collections of duck stamps for four states? Or are you referring to single stamps for a specific year?

I just splurged on a Federal Duck stamp collection. Maybe I'll post some of it later. It was interesting because the regummed stamps were noted in the auction description and SOR had a recent discussion on how to detect regumming - so far I haven't been able to see why certain of these duck stamps were listed as regummed in the auction and others as genuine gum (more detailed study needed, obviously).

"one / state duck stamp collection"

I'm only doing one stamp per state and region. I already have a federal collection complete to #75, this is just a fun extra collection! My God, how long would it take, and how much $$$$, to collect them all?
I'll also be curious about whether or not the regumming is noticeable. I was one of the contributors to the regumming post and curious how well it was done. I really can't figure out why they would bother!

Sorry, I didn't immediately grok that "one / state" was one-per-state, but I see it now. Understandable not collecting all the state ducks, especially if you have a substantially complete Federal duck collection. Sounds like fun.

re: Started my one / state duck stamp collection

Stamp collecting was beginning to get too serious since for most of my areas I only need expensive classic stamps. So I decided to get one duck/state and province for Canada. I am looking for one precancel/province and state and also I am looking for one precancel for each state capital. I am also getting into a few fun topicals. It's fun again and that's important!

re: Started my one / state duck stamp collection

I hauled up this old string for a comment. I haven't been doing a lot of hunting but a found a really good site on e-bay for someone who deals almost exclusively in Cinderellas from all over the world ( https://www.ebay.ca/str/nevadajewelrygem ... ) and managed to get duck stamps from New York State and Michigan to bring me to half way in my search to get one "duck stamp" per state. I also have the first 75 of the RW code ones that takes me to 2008 where I decided to stop. I'm not going to post which states I need since I just pick one up occasionally, but I am getting there!!! I really like duck stamps and have the federal Canada collection finished and am now working one one for each region or province in Canada.
EDIT: With the US the regions I decided to stay away from, mostly because of price and scarcity, are the numerous native reservations. I might try for a few later. Does anyone else collect this stuff?

I have been adding the US federal duck stamps to my International album for 1840-1963 and now have all of them plus I have added another partial set to my Lighthouse USA album and just need three more for that collection.

I have never attempted the US state or Canadian issues which definitely look challenging.
