I might have asked this before but I can't remember if I got an answer. In my Minkus album and in Scott's numbers the numbers jump from #1 to #11. That tells me at one time there must have been #2 to #10. I have many local Poland stamps and I'm curious if some of these were once recognized as part of these missing numbers are stamps I already have. My question: Does anyone of you have either a very early Scott's or possibly another type of catalog that might tell me what #2 to #10 used to be? If you do could you show a scan, please?
EDIT: Actually my Minkus album uses Minkus numbers which does not leave a gap between #1 and #11, it calls Scott #11 Minkus #2, etc. So what I need is a scan from someone who might have a very early Scott's catalog.

re: Question on early Poland

So... I don't have an old Scott. However, the notes listed after Poland #1 (Issues of the Republic) in my recent Scott perhaps describe stamps which used to be the missing numbers:

And, cross referencing with my 2005 Yvert & Teller Classic catalog, I see that the overprints indicated are illustrated:

I hope this may be of help.

I don't have a positive answer to your question, but can narrow down where to look a bit.

My 1932 issue of Scott goes from 1 to 11 with a similar note to the one given above, exactly as in the current Scott.

My ca 1888 issue of Scott just gives number 1.

re: Question on early Poland

A little early morning search on the HathiTrust website provides a little more detail.

In the 1903 edition of the Scott catalogue, Poland 2 - 5 are listed as envelopes.

In the 1904 edition, the envelopes are gone.

In the 1920 edition, listings pick up with Scott 11.

Without access to a complete run of the catalogues and the monthly journal, I can’t say for certain whether anything was ever listed under numbers 6 - 10.

Hope this helps a little.
