In my Scott Catalog under Malawi I see the following:

"Numerous items inscribed "Malawi" have been declared illegal by Malawi postal officials..." and it goes on to describe several issues.

Is there a club, web site, publication, or something better than NOT finding it in Scott to determine when an issue is unauthorized?

I have items from Malawi, Central African Republic, Guinea, and Zaire that I am very dubious about, and I'm eyeing items from Chad, Madagascar, Tongo, and Ukraine. It's for my topical collection so I really don't care if they are legit or not. I will include a few of them, but I would like to create a section called "Unauthorized Issues" to put them all in. So I would like to know what is, and what is not, legit. It also matters for the topical spreadsheet maintained by ATS (American Topical Society).

Thanks!

The UPU occasionally puts out circulars of illegal stamps.

I see the above for Malawi with a list attached, at a quick check, I did not go through them all.

Yes, I did. Sorry. I had APS on the brain and messed it up. Should have been ATA.

I am actually a member of both.

Thanks for catching that!
