"A penny saved is a penny earned."

We have an old saying in Canada we stole from Lothian or Carnoustie or somewhere...
"A penny earned is a ha'penny that could be saved...but only if she-who-rules dinnae find oot".
Did I get that almost right Ian?
I went to school in Midlothian.
I currently live a few miles from Carnoustie
But
I have never heard that saying before.
But it could be a Yorkshire saying.
We have a saying in Old Caledonia "Yorkshire folk are like Aberdonians but with the generosity streak removed"

Just for fun, to see how the process goes. Michel
The other way is to try to understand the point to set a BIN two cents higher than at the 10 cents. Michel
I don't mean to insult the bidder by asking this question, I'm just curious! I was looking at the auction sight and noticed a seller had a few items where you could bid at 10 cents or buy it now at 12 cents. A person had bid 10 cents on each item! Why would someone not spend the 12 cents which means if the items are desirable at all they are taking a major chance of not getting the items. If you want an item does 2 cents really matter that much? Just curious!! The logic escapes me!
