I 've had mine for 11-12 years. Just now starting to wear out I guess, won't come on a lot of times. Anyway, I bought a new one from Walmart. Exact same model. (BTW, it's made in the Philippines, not China)
paid $5.00 for the old one. new one was $5.82. What with inflation as it is expected to pay more.
(on a related subject; did you know Arizona tea hasn't raised their prices in 6 years or more? A 16 oz. can is still $.99).

re: Casio pocket solar calculator.

Hi Stampaholic:

Interesting comment. Some of these calculators are long-lived. I have one, a Nobility solar calculator, made in the Rep. of China (Taiwan), that I got ca. 1980. Close to 45 years old and still calculating, although, the + key is worn and takes quite a bit of pressure to make it add, otherwise it is still in good working order. The 1 key and the decimal key are so faded as to be unrecognizable. I still use it from time to time, especially for non-addition functions.

I used it mostly to total stamp purchases and calculate percentage of item prices vs catalog values.

At the time I got it, I was greatly impressed with its slimness. It is 5mm thick.

WOW!
You just reminded me that I have a solar calculator from 1970 that I used when I was a buyer for a Pulp & Paper Company!
Still in top notch shape ... I guess there was not much calculating, LOL.
