Very cool Vince! History like this is fun. I like looking up old hotels to see if they still exist, either as a hotel or a building. Some of the ancient architecture has been saved and are now apartments. And when I Google some addresses there is a modern building or parking lot. Bummer!
When I started selling covers on eBay one of my assumptions was that small town covers would sell, but everyone already had a Philadelphia or New York City cover. I soon found the big city covers sold better! People are collecting things like hotels and other corner cards. I have a customer who collects insurance companies. Some people collect city branches.
I learned not to prejudge any cover. Every time I ask myself “Why am I listing this one?” It sells quickly.

I recently acquired this group of covers. Six different Hotel Covers from Girard House Hotel. There are several different proprieters listed on the corner card. I have a friend who collects early Philadelphia advertising covers and he gave a talk on hotel covers. Some of the propieters were in demand so other hotels would compete to hire them becauce of their reputation.
I'll be on the lookout for other hotels with these proprieters listed.
