Helle from Algeria,

One of the main themes I am looking for : are foreign philatelic documents related to my country Algeria : (cancellations, stamps, etc...).
As a first step, I'd like to set up a virtual collection of these documents.
I know that the United States made some cancellations in connection with Algeria, notably during the Second World War and well before and after.
If anyone knows of a site or has visuals of these, I would be grateful if they could share them with me on this page or send them to me via private message.

With my thanks

Foudutimbre

re: US postmarks conected with Algeria

Foudutimbre -

I have a World War II topical collection, and in it, I have the postcard scanned below mailed from Algeria during the war. I have verified that APO 512 was used in Algiers, Algeria according to page 124 of this APO document:

https://archive.org/details/NumericalLis ...

You have my permission to use the images below as you wish.

I suggest you try the Jim Forte Postal History website for additional images of WW II mail from Algeria. I will leave the link below:

https://www.postalhistory.com/index.htm

On the Jim Forte website, follow these tabs:

Military
U.S. WWII A.P.O.'s
Algeria

Hope this helps you,

Linus

Thanks a lot Linus for sharing this postcard and post mark and allowing me to add it to my virtual collection.
I visited the site suggested, it is very rich in information, thank you very much, I see that I have work to do to build a virtual directory, it's super nice of you to have shared this link.
