Check out Precanel society (I think that is the name?)

I really don't want to join the society, I was hoping someone here might be able to help. But if I have to, I guess I might have to!
Just ask for information!

If nobody here can help I'll check into The Precancel Society(?). I should probably join anyway since this has become a major interest for me!
EDIT: I found a site for The Precancel Stamp Society and there was an article on the 1938 series concerning the dated precancels with company initials. There were about 18 pages of them separated by state and city. They didn't actually say what the various initials stood for but at least they are there. I bookmarked the article and when I get a chance I'll go through and pick out what I want. All I really am interested in is one per company so I'll make a list of the various companies. I get a feeling this is a much more comprehensive and complicated area than I originally thought!!
Which company?
Initals?

There are hundreds!!!!
Here's a strip of coils!

Thanks for showing the very interesting strip of 8, great set of stamps! I'm going to stick with the 1938 president series. Even though yours is the previous series the company initials exist in the set I'm interested in. I'm still not sure what my collection will entail but I think I'm going to try to find as many different company initials as possible and try to find out what company names they represent. I don't want to go crazy with this since there seems to be hundreds of different companies situated in almost all states. I've still got a lot of thinking to do!! It's a fun collection so I want to have fun with it!

Your collection could go even further than just the 50 states of the USA. Shown below is a block from my collection for Sears, Roebuck & Co. with a San Juan Puerto Rico precancel, which is one of the territories of the USA. I am sure there are other territories, too.

Great block of used precancels!
The 1938 presidential series of definitives is known for having precancels that are dated with the initials of companies included. They sort of fall under the title "mail order house dated precancels". I am trying to build a collection and have quite a few, for example MW (Montgomery Ward), SRC (Sears Robuck Company) and others. I believe the original, or first one, was MCBMU (National Council of Business Mail Users), I'm curious if any one out there has access to a list of what was produced. I'm not having any luck online and the Gunesch precancel book discusses some but not all. Can anyone help?
