I just use an Excel spreadsheet to keep track of what I have and what I need. Works for me.

I found the best way, was to make a google sheet of what I HAVE, as it will usually be less than what I need. (At least for US)
Let me know, if you need any more advice on how to make a google sheet, encoded!

a spreadsheet could work i guess... but i was hoping for something already available - maybe with a checkmark to indicate i already have that stamp. perhaps too a way to list all stamps missing... i.e. without checkmarks
something easy to use and simple too

Though it doesn't follow the Scott catalog, you can make a free account at StampWorld and keep track of your stamps there (by checking a box). I use it for my Latin American collection.

You can use the site to create a want list, but I cannot find any way to print it out.

yay it works
i was able to make a list of my missing 1993 usa stamps. i will need to work on other years too
to print it, i used, in the browser, 'print' and then selected the 'microsoft print to pdf' option instead of the printer to create a pdf file.
i sent to google drive; does this link works to see the pdf?
i think you need to double click on the pdf to display it or use the 3 dots more action -> open with -> preview

The Brookman catalog (price list) is available online. It is not a checklist per se but one of the best online listings of collectible (meaning includes varieties, booklet panes, etc) of US stamps. Their prices are higher than Scott catalog.
There are software tools that can edit the pdf so maybe possible to extract the information.
