A real nice post mark! I got one myself yesterday so I don't need one now!!
I don't have any dog bite covers but I do have an interesting story.
My father started working for the post office around 1950 sorting mail on the night train between Philadelphia and Norfolk, VA. When they started phasing out the mail trains, he took the test for supervisor and was promoted. He was assigned to a post office and was in charge of the carriers. When patrons had aggressive dogs that would charge to door when the carrier was putting mail in the slot and frightening the carriers, and the carriers would complain to my father. He would give the patrons a few warnings. If that didn't work, he would instruct the carriers just to put the mail in halfway and let the dogs tear it in half. It was very effective, especially on check day.
Another story involves dogs, cats and birds. He had a hard time getting carriers to cover one particular carriers' route. This carrier handled the dog problem differently. Like most carriers today, he would have treats for the dogs that were loose on the street, and they would leave him alone. He also gave treats to cats and birds. One of the replacements for his route was unaware of this. He turned a corner where the birds would be given treats and said it was like a scene from Hitchcock's "The Birds". The birds were all lined up on fences and railings waiting for their treats. The birds weren't happy, to say the least! They chased the carrier down the street.

I sort of look for interesting postmarks. There is a very cool one on "dog bite awareness" as it applies to door to door delivery of mail. I have one on a very dark stamp and it doesn't show up well. I also can't seem to find a good reference online. Can anyone of you show a scan of what is in the post mark? There also might be more than one example, I'm not sure!!
