Found in a collection I bought recently.

I've never dealt with Snuff stamps, also I really don't know what snuff is.

See scans, I made 3 scans, #1 entire stamp. #2 & #3 portions of the entire stamp. Scans at bottom

There is a series of 1875 nottion.

This is on silk paper.

Stamp paper is green.

At the top this is "Contnienial Bank Note Co. New York.

At the bottom there is words but I can't make them out?

Unknown how this was printed, maybe flat press printed (just my guess)

Any help would be appreciated

re: Need Help with this one, Snuff Stamp 16oz, Series 1875?

Also known as smokeless tobacco, snuff is a powdered tobacco product that is either sniffed into the nose (snuffed) or applied to the gums. Snuff was taxed at a rate based on weight.

From 1868 to sometime in 1870 the thirty-two cent manufactured tobacco stamps were used on snuff. The first separate Revenue stamps for the product were issued in 1870, and a large number of different shapes were produced to accommodate different package shapes. Overprinted tobacco stamps were used in 1872, and then another series of snuff stamps was introduced. Beginning in 1932, annual series were introduced. Here is one from 1883, also on green paper:

Here's one from 1902, It's on blue paper:

If you don't already have one, the reference catalog you need is Springer's Catalogue of U.S.A. Taxpaids, B.N.A. Fantasies, M. & M. Facsimiles: And Other Material Heretofore Classified as "Unlisted." (by Sherwood Springer). A 10th edition recently sold on eBay for $45.

Hope this is helpful.
