To ease ones conscience one could always send the seller a cheque/money order for the amount.
Maybe a physical letter with a cheque will get a response from the seller or their relatives.
The seller may be in hospital or heaven forbid has passed away.
Ian's suggestion of a letter with a check is a good one. Unfortunately, sounds as if something happened.
I am guessing who the seller is but if it is the person I am thinking of they have in the past "disappeared" for a couple of months before, and they have returned.
You're WAY overthinking it. Either wait for him to invoice you or proactively send him a check.
Thank you for your suggestions. Yesterday, I was about ready to send the seller a cheque when a message arrived from him. In the press of business and family matters, he had forgotten to send the invoice. He apologized — didn’t have to! — and soon sent the invoice with instruction on how to pay. So, Erniejax, I had followed your advice and didn’t even know it!

About two months ago, I bought several buy-it-now stamps in the StampoRama auction from one dealer. At about the same time, I won several of his other auctions. He promptly mailed his stamps to me in a carefully prepared, nicely franked packet, even though I had not paid for them. He did not send an invoice, so I messaged him asking how much I owed and how he wished to be paid. He did not respond. I have sent one more message, but he has yet to answer, nor has he responded to a recent request on my behalf sent by David Teisler.
I have come to know this seller through previous transactions and by way of several friendly and thoughtful messages related to the modern political histories of his country and the country of my birth. I know that he has been under considerable stress related to his work and business travel and the political / economic / environmental disasters that are happening around the world.
The market value of the stamps he sent to me, plus the shipping cost, must be around $30. Any thoughts on how I should proceed with this?
