GOOD STAMP there, I really like the early issues.
Especially think the maltese cross is nice with a number.
What does the number mean?
@1899...
As Dave referred to in his original post, during the early years (1840–1844) of the Penny Black and Penny Red stamps, some cancellations featured a numbered Maltese Cross. A number 6 was used by a specific office within the London Inland Section. After 1844, the Maltese Cross was replaced with oval or circular barred numeral cancels and the number 6 was allocated to the provincial town of Birmingham.
Dave, Lucky you.. I think it is a beauty.

I just picked this up on Hipstamp, from a seller who should know better (over 150,000 positive feedback).
GB Sc4 (SG14) with a Maltese Cross cancel with a London "6" in the centre. It's only 3 margins, but I paid US$30. The CV is £700. Expect to see it on my website soon. Happy day!
